CHOCOLATE CAKE, A CLASSICAL RECIPE WHICH ALWAYS PLEASES YOUR GUESTS!

MOELLEUX AU CHOCOLAT (CHOCOLATE CAKE)

Yesterday night, I and my roommate decided to organize a little dinner with some friends. I was responsible for the dessert and I made one of my favorite recipes, a soft chocolate cake. It’s the recipe that I always choose when I have to bake something quick, which pleases everyone. I’m sure you agree with me, Chocolate cake is always the best alternative!

Here is the recipe, try it with your friends and I’m waiting for your comments 🙂

WHAT YOU NEED ?

  • 125 g of flour
  • 125 g of butter
  • 125 g of sugar
  • 1 chocolate bar (200g)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 package instant yeast

 

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a casserole, with a bit of water.
  3. Out of the heat, add the butter, the flour and the package instant yeast.
  4. Prepare a mousse with the egg yolk, the sugar and a little bit of water; add it to the chocolate mixture.
  5. Beat the egg whites until firm and add them to the mixture very slowly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a mould with butter and put it into the oven for 35 min.
  7. To decorate the cake, you can add melt chocolate or fruits!!  

Desserts of the week!

Hi guys,

Yesterday was cooking day for me! I prepared two different desserts for the week, which are, fast to make, delicious, and conservable for a week in the fridge. Therefore, I decided to share them with you.
I’m going to start with the apple/strawberry compote and then I’ll continue with the vanilla rice pudding.

APPLE & STRAWBERRY COMPOTE:

WHAT YOU NEED?

  • 3 apples
  • 15 strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 glasses of water

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  1. Peel the apples and cut them in cubes. Put the cubes into a casserole and add the strawberries. Add also two glasses of water.
  2. Then, wait for the apples to soften and mix the preparation sometimes.
  3. When the apples are softened, add both sugars and mix it again.
  4. The final step is to wait the fruits to be totally softened so you can reduce them in a puree.
  5. If you are a student and not well-equipped like me, you can crush the fruits with a spoon; or, you can use a mixer.
  6. You can either eat it warm or wait it to be cold.

VANILLA RICE PUDDING

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 100 g of white rice
  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1  bag of vanilla sugar
  • 1 orange zest

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  1. Boil the milk with both sugars and the orange zest.
  2. When the milk is boiling, add the rice and turn the baking sheet down so the boiling process is slowed. The rice has to be cooked very slowly.
  3. When the rice becomes visible on the milk, stop the baking sheet. The rice will finish soaking by cooling.
  4. This dessert can be eaten either warm or cold, up to your taste.

Carrot & Coconut soup for a lovely dinner!

Hello everyone,

If you are tired of eating your basic vegetable soup, I suggest you this original recipe which will delight you for sure! 🙂 It’s an amazing culinary discovery that I made last winter. The ingredients can be surprising at first, but the whole is delicious.

WHAT YOU NEED?
 1 kg of carrots (6 big carrots)
 1 orange
 1 box of coconut milk (don’t use the coconut itself)
 Pepper, salt

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  1. Grate the carrots to bake them faster and put them into a casserole
  2. Squeeze the orange and add it with the Coconut milk into the casserole
  3. Add water until you can insert one finger between the carrots and the level of water. (If you add hot water, you will gain time).
  4. Then, add pepper and salt and cook it over high heat for about 30 minutes.
  5. In the end, you blend the soup. If you feel that it is too solid, add a little more water and blend it again.

My gingerbread :)

I hope you are ready for my new recipe. Today, I’m going to share with you my Gingerbread recipe.

When you think about Gingerbread, generally, the first thing that comes to your mind is Christmas. I agree, most of the time; we are used to eating this cake at Christmas time. But at my home, we love it so much that it has become a common cake we often bake during the week-ends. It is really easy to make and if you are fond of honey, like me, this cake is made for you!

Let’s explain the recipe:

WHAT YOU NEED: (for 6 persons)

  • 250 grammes of honey
  • 250 grammes of flour
  • 100 grammes of sugar ( I only put 50 grammes because honey is already really sweet)
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of green anise
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger (powder)
  • 1 teaspoon of 4 spices
  • 2 eggs
  • 10 cl of milk

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  • Heat the honey (into the microwave for example) and add it into a bowl where you will have already put the flour, the baking powder, the different spices and both sugars.
  • Then, add both eggs one by one while you are stirring.
  • Finally, add the milk and stir again.
  • Preheat the oven to 160°.
  • Put the dough into a mould in which you spread butter.
  • Put it into the oven and wait for 1 hour to 1 hour and fifteen minutes.
  • When it gets cold, remove it from the mould and wait at least 24 hours. Of course, you can eat it directly 🙂 but it will be even better if you wait.
  • You can keep it for a week into aluminum foil.

Lemon curd cheesecake recipe :)

HI EVERYONE,

As I promised you, I’m going to share with you my cheesecake recipe. First, before giving it to you, I would like to explain my story with this cake.

“My friend, Magali, and I, are fond of cheesecakes. When we decided to make it, we had already tasted many different cheesecakes but we had never taken the next step by trying to make one by ourselves. One day, our classes were cancelled and we wanted to cook. Magali had the different needed-ingredients in her fridge, so the idea came up and we decided to make our first cheesecake. It tasted really really good!!! We were so proud of it. And that is the reason why I want to share this recipe with you.”

I’m not going to make you wait longer, here is the recipe:

WHAT YOU NEED:

200 gr of ground Spéculoos
50 gr of melted butter
600 gr of fresh cheese (like Philadelphia)
1 lemon
3 eggs
25 gr of flour
100 gr of fresh cream
20 cl of milk
150 gr of sugar
Lemoncurd

THE DIFFERENT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

Mix the Spéculoos powder with the melted butter, lay it down in an individual ring mold and put it 10 minutes into the oven (180°).

Mix in the fresh cheese, add the fresh cream, mix in again, and add the lemon zest, sugar, eggs (one by one).

Add the flour and then the milk.

Pour the batter into the individual ring mold.

Heat the oven to 210°, charge and let cook during 10 minutes, and then reduce heat to 90° and let cook during one hour.

Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake one more hour in it. Then, add the lemon curd on it and put it into the fridge and wait until the day after.

FINAL STEP: READY TO BE EATEN!!!! 
